The completed Levitate, a new painting for the upcoming Small Works group exhibition opening this Saturday, June 1st at Beinart Gallery.

This is an actual view from my previous studio. I had documented a next door neighbor's window late one night because I had loved how the darkness defined the edges of the window and snugly framed a warm and inviting room. From up above my studio, I would often hear indistinct mutterings coming from the apartment, and despite trying to catch a glimpse of a silhouette or shadow, was never once able to do so.

Years later, the photo crept back into my mind and later led to a study and painting of this imagination of an elusive stranger that I once lived next to.
